Our Reception curriculum is based upon the following seven areas of learning:

The Prime Areas

  • Communication and Language
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development

The Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We provide opportunities for children to learn in these areas both through play and with more structured activities. We also use your child’s needs and interest to plan challenging and enjoyable activities and experiences.

The Early Years framework identifies three characteristics of effective teaching and learning:

  • Playing and Exploring
  • Active Learning
  • Creating and Thinking Critically

We build strong relationships with parents to understand the child as whole, knowing how they learn both in and out of school. One of the ways we do this is through Tapestry. Please click here to login.
